Meet Miss Elizabeth
Hi! I’m Miss Elizabeth Hansen and I hope you take a moment to get to know me and see if I may be a good fit to teach your child this year.
I can’t remember a time when I didn’t dance. My passion and love for dance led me to study dance at Brigham Young University where I graduated as valedictorian in 2008 with a degree in dance education. While at BYU, I received both the Leona Holbrook Dance Scholarship as well as the Gary Hopkinson Dance Scholarship and received numerous awards including the Outstanding Dance Educator Award and Distinguished Graduating Dance Senior Award. While attending BYU, I had the opportunity to perform on dancEnsemble, Kinnect, and The Dancers’ Company. During my experience on various dance companies, I found great joy in performing and teaching both locally and internationally.
After graduation, I taught for two years at Riverton High School as a full-time dance teacher as well as the Dance Company advisor.
After the birth of my first child in 2010, I have sought out creative ways to stay involved in dance and dance education while juggling motherhood. In 2013, I sat my husband down on the floor of our basement family room and shared with him my dream and vision of a quaint in-home dance studio focused on warm, wholistic, quality early-childhood dance classes. Since that room was already my space for choreographing, my children had affectionately named it “The Dancing Room” and my little dream was born and named. It has been a delight to bring the magic and sweetness of quality dance instruction to young children in our community for the past decade.
My most dynamic and challenging creative endeavor is that of mother to my five incredible children alongside my favorite collaborator, my husband Spencer. It has been beautiful to see how motherhood has transformed my dance teaching, and how teaching dance has enlightened my motherhood. I love to get my family out in nature and learn, move, and play together. I am happiest when we are riding bikes, camping, hiking, and picnicking together in beautiful places.
